Water, Drainage & Public Health

Introduction

Jacobs has been engaged by many clients to provide consulting services in connection with water drainage and public health engineering. This has included storm water and land drainage in urban and rural areas, foul water drainage, potable and flushing water supply systems, irrigation, dams, improvements, water treatment plants, and effluent disposal.

We undertake:

We deal with the full cycle of the provision of potable water from raw water storage reservoirs or river intakes through piped mains, treatment works, service reservoirs, and piped reticulation to the end user. We also deal with the full cycle of sewerage from the piped collection of dirty water from the development area by gravity, or through pumping stations and rising mains to sewage treatment works and then to effluent outfalls. For special cases tertiary treatment is provided to allow the effluent to be reused for irrigation water or other purposes. Stormwater flows from catchment areas are estimated, routed through channels, pipes and culverts for eventual outfall making use of detention area and balancing ponds to optimise flow regimes.
